Two very different women, Marian and Jewel, become unlikely friends as they realise that their similarities far outweigh their differences.
It is written and directed by Patricia Kelly and stars Geraldine McAlinden (Bloodlands, Bad Sisters), Maya O’Shea (Normal People), Michael James Ford (Harry Wild, Striking Out) and Killian Filan (Normal People).
VERDIGRIS premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in July 2023, where it won the award for Best Independent Film. It also won Best Irish Film at the Newport Beach Film Festival in LA, Best Narrative Feature at the Kerry Film Festival, Best Feature Film at the Irish Film Festival London and the Audience Award at the 2024 British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg.
It was also nominated for 5 awards at the 2024 Irish Film and Television Academy Awards.
VERDIGRIS is a co-production with MnáMná Films.
It is now avaialable for global distribution through Sales Agency Silver Mountain Distribution.
Patricia Kelly - Writer / Director / Producer
Patricia Kelly is an independent filmmaker and founder of MnáMná Films, an Irish production company based in Dublin. Her award-winning short films have screened worldwide at film festivals, online and on TV and she has had a comedy radio play broadcast on RTE Radio 1. She has an MA in Screenwriting for Film & TV and was a script reader for Northern Ireland Screen for four years. Patricia is passionate about amplifying marginalised voices, featuring characters and stories less often seen on screen.
Geraldine McAlinden - Marian
Geraldine is originally from County Armagh. She has trained at the Gaiety School of Acting and the Focus Theatre and was in the first intake of the Factory's Screen Acting Programme in 2012. She has also trained with The Actors Comedy Studio based in LA.
Geraldine's film credits include The Secret Scripture, Aisha, Ordinary Love, Black 47, Who We love, Zoo, The Truth Commissioner, Portrait of a Zombie, Sucking Diesel and The Reavey Brothers. She recently wrapped on The Last Rifleman with Pierce Brosnan directed by Terry Loane (produced by Wee Buns).
Her TV credits include Bad Sisters, Bloodlands, Miss Scarlett and the Duke, Blood, Red Rock, Striking Out and Scup. Geraldine has just wrapped on Maryland with Eve Best and Suranne Jones directed by Susan Tully (produced by Monumental Television).

Maya O'Shea - Jewel
Maya comes from Dublin and graduated from Inchicore College’s Theatre Performance course in 2021, where she has played the roles of Viola in Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night or What You Will’, Summer in Ciara Elizabeth Smyth’s ‘The Neck’ and Simon Yepikhodov in Chekhov’s ‘The Cherry Orchard’.
Maya recently appeared in BBC/Hulu’s ‘Normal People’ as Jenny, and Jamie in the music video for ‘the author’ by Luz Corrigan.
She is soon to appear in Revolution Media’s feature film ‘Made in Dublin’, directed by Jack Armstrong.
Killian Filan - Sam
Killian has recently been filming the role of Fintan Daly in German crime series ‘Der Irland Krimi’. Previous screen credits include: ‘Treaty Live’, (RTE); ‘Normal People’,(BBC/Hulu); ‘Crash Scene Investigates’,(Virgin Media One) and ‘Dub Daze’, which premiered at the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival.
A graduate of D.I.T Conservatory of Music and Drama, Killian’s college productions included ‘The Conservatory of Clown’, directed by Raymond Keane and ‘The Rover’,
directed by Peter Mc Dermott.
Recent theatre credits include: ‘The Tide’ with Whirligig Theatre Company, ‘Young Fionn McCumhal’ with Clan Cluana Theatre Company and ‘How Far Antigone?’ with German Theatre Company, Theaterlabor. Killian has also worked with Smashing Times Theatre Company onseveral occasions, performing in productions including ‘Flaming Inspirations’ and ‘Testimonials-A Day Out’.
Michael James Ford - Nigel
Michael has recently completed filming the role of Laurence Cavendish in new detective series HARRY WILD alongside Jane Seymour. Recent screen credits include the role of Maurice Blennerhasset in DEAD STILL, Nigel Fitzjames in the second series of the RTÉ legal drama STRIKING OUT, the role of Crouch in Declan Reck's feature film THE FLAG, the RTÉ series BRIDGET AND EAMON, the role of Sir Leonard Figg in CHARLIE, PENNY DREADFUL for Showtime, MRS BROWN’S BOYS D’MOVIE, and Julian Jarrold’s BECOMING JANE.
